Retro, comfort, ruffles and more hot looks for spring

By Rieva Lesonsky

When I was growing up in New York, this was the time of year I started anticipating spring. I couldn’t wait for the first signs (usually the blooming of the bright yellow forsythias). If you own a clothing store or website, your mind also needs to turn to spring—spring fashions.

There is lots of information out there about 2018 spring (and summer) fashion trends. I wrote about some here. If you’re looking for suppliers of these fashions, try the Source Now tool from Alibaba.com.

For another view of spring fashion trends, here are some picks from Off Price magazine.

Ankle-Strap Heels

These feminine pumps really started picking up in popularity this fall. Expect to see a higher demand for these shoes, particularly in black and neutral colors.

Compact Purses and Backpacks

If your retail business targets juniors or contemporary shoppers, take a look at compact backpacks and purses.

‘70s Floral Print Tops

As they sang in Gigi, “Ah yes, I remember it well.” If only I’d kept mine, I wouldn’t have to go shopping. These are 70s-inspired, flowy, floral tops, though Off Price says the most popular (as opposed to the picture above) will be in more muted colors like navy and maroon.

Embellished Pants and Crops

We saw ruffles, tassels, embroidery and other embellishments on women’s tops last fall. Now they’re showing up on pants and crops.

Men’s Joggers

Cargo and sweatpants joggers that have an elastic band at the ankle combine comfort with fashion.

Retro Swim Trunks

Retro swim trunks are back! They rest about mid-thigh on most men. Off Price says if you want to stock these, look for ones with small patterns or tropical images.
