I agree Carol. And I think people will continue to seek out the “little luxuries” in 2010. Smart business owners should stay on top of this trend.

Hi Rieva!

A new, very upscale mall opened here on the eastside of Seattle recently. When I took a tour to write about the restaurants there, I couldn't help noticing that the only place with a line was the cupcake store, Trophy Cupcakes. You see, parking needed to be validated, and it was not only delicious but the lowest-priced item in the mall! When you can't afford Dolce & Gabbana, you can still treat yourself to a little box of cupcakes. Low price-point affordable indulgences like cupcakes are perfectly positioned for these hard times. Who isn't cheered up by a cupcake?
